Mobile & Pushcart Operations
A mobile food unit is a food establishment on wheels and is meant to be mobile. Permitted operations pay one yearly fee and may operate countywide or statewide (based on permit type). These units are to contact the health department in each county where they operate for an inspection and units may not remain at one location longer than 14 consecutive days.  Certain restrictions will apply to each type of mobile unit, so please contact the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department at (859) 231-9791 to discuss requirements and/or to schedule an inspection.

Any mobile unit that is permitted as a Statewide Mobile Food Unit must complete the Mobile Food Unit Registration form and pay a fee of $25 before setting up at each location.  If the mobile unit is being set up at a location that is within a recognized fair or scheduled event, the registration fee will be waived at our agency's discretion.  The Mobile Food Unit Registration form and any applicable fees can be brought to 650 Newtown Pike.
